PostSubject: Acepow 2s1p 5000mah 40C Hardcase Review   Thu Apr 22, 2010 9:20 pm

I used the 2s1p 5000mah in my big Flashlight and I could see in the dark. Was pretty cool for 20 minutes, when I figured that I still had my dark sunglasses on. Cool

I tested the 2 packs in series in my Rustler. Gearing was set at 58/25 with a Tekno Neu 1400kv 1512 motor. I need swap the motor out or increase my gearing to bring the load out. I peaked at 80Amps which is quite embarrassing for me. I mean I'm used to 180+ amps with my A123's. But that is due to me swapping out the heavy beadlocks for those lightweight Jaco's.

At 80.14A, voltage was at 14.9! Peak watts was at 1214W. Not too shabby, but I want to see something higher than that. More will follow.

Once again great review.
I have a motor we could try out and really see what those batteries can do. Twisted Evil

The nice thing was that after 13minutes the resting voltage was still around 16V.

Looks like I need the Plettenberg in it.

YES....YES let's see that. See what it takes to turn those batteries into puffy chip bags.

What is the rated charge rate for those batteries? Because I saw some 4S packs on there site that are 6C capable.

Well, Acepow just announced on RCU that all their packs are safe for 5C charging.

I got 180A out today with a MMpro! Major carnage at Randy's with the Rustler. Took alot of hammering to get the metal back straight. Cells casing got damaged a bit. But still perform. My datalogger got messed up as well.

My dumb butt raced the Rustler towards myself and braked too hard. It spun out hit the curb at full speed in reverse. Took alot of hammering to get that rear skidplate back straight.

Reflashed the firmware on the datalogger and all seems well. I'll find out tonite if it works properly.

curbs in reverse are always fun.
So no damage to the motor?

Motor survived. It was at 209F. The ESC fan was going nuts, but the batteries were "cold".

A GTP run is in order.

So the pack looks like a solid 25C pack and the 40C label looks like peak. I want to see a true 40-45C pack now and see how low the Voltage will dip.

Can you write up a Easy to read Collection of what these batteries can do and cannot do ?
SO i can send it to Ace aka that the batteries can only do that at peak not continous.

The 5000mah hardcase packs can do 72A@14V. 178A@12.46V. The peak power on these batteries are good. The 40C label on the pack stands for peak and should be listed as such. The battery didn't get hot. The 4mm bullet connectors are good for average power. However they came undone upon impact. That is something I didn't like. I want to see wires coming out from the top of the case or side of the case. The hardcase survived a big high speed crash. Just got a small indentation in the case from hitting my metal chassis.

i talked to them this morningn 3am -_-
they say 40c supposed to be continous
Since you are the only one with computer data to back that up they wanted
the screenies in a email format so they can show it to their Battery designers.
Designers are blowing the marketing ppl off at ACE lol so marketing has to bring back Solid recorded proof.
So the designers redo the 40C packs. they have the same issue with the softpacks for airplanes of this kind.

You can just copy pace the pics that I posted. The originals are gone from my laptop...sucker crashed on me. I still have one session of the datalogger file. If they have an eagletree logger, I can include that file as well.

Some more data from my GTP. Gearing was 51-16, Hacker c50 6L, Ipanema tires, RX8 ESC. Stupid fast, but my intial voltage drop is higher.

I used the battery packs in 4s1p mode yesterday in the GTP and it worked good, untill I hit the side rail. The GTP just stopped working and I thought I broke the RX8. After swapping in packs the the RX8 powered up again. Later I took the bad pack apart and measured for voltage on each cell. Both cells were still good, so it must of been a cold solder joint. Quick dap of solder and battery is ok.

I do have to say that 4s2p A123 have more power in the GTP than the 4s1p Ace.
