PostSubject: Got me a 28T and 30T mod1 pinion   Sun Jan 23, 2011 7:51 pm

I just got the 28T and 30T pinions. These things are big and are in the top right of in the pic.

The bottom ones are Robinson Racing and they are ok. They sure don't last as long as the RCM one. The Castle Pinions are quiet too. More so then the RR ones.

Installed the 28T in the GTP that runs on 4s. I jumped from 23T to the 28T. I had no room for the 30T. Estimated speed is about 68MPH with the 47T spur. Not bad for 4s. I'm hoping to push close to 80MPH with 4s and 1.5D 1515. Maybe more if someone can make me a smaller spool mount. Pletty was at 159F after a few runs, Acepow was just chilling and RX8 had 3 led on.

Yea it's pretty big. One step closer to 100mph on 4s. However Mark has the motor to pull it off already.

Those sure are cute little pinions and you can pick up one of those motors over on OSE for $210

Yup, but I want the 2 poler 1950 Lehner version. BTW, the 1515 came in today. Just waiting on a certain painter that is holding my body hostage. Can't try the 80mph without it.

How's the motor look? Did you already order bearings?

The motor looks good and so do the bearings. Just need to clean them up and solder up some plugs. Label states that it was build 05/08.

Wiped the bearings clean, lubed it with Royal Purple, soldered my last 6mm bullets onto the 1515 1.5D motor and went nuts. I didn't bother datalogging the run. But based on my calculations, I must of went 80mph or very close to it. Sure 80mph is nothing in a 1/8 GTP, but it's something to do it with 4s only. I did this with the run down Ofna foam tires. They did chunk a bit, but did not blow up. Next up is 95+ MPH on 4s.

The Eagletree V4 and GPS has arrived. I also got 2 more Acepow 4s packs to mess with for either 4s2p or 8s1p. I'm one step closer to the 100mph run and this time have a GPS to verify the speed, along with motor rpm, voltage drop, amp draw, esc temp and all at 50Hz compared to my older logger which maxed out at 10Hz.

Most likely I will attempt the run early Sunday morning at the Costco parking lot.
