PostSubject: New guy saying hi.   New guy saying hi. EmptyFri Oct 08, 2010 9:26 pm

Hi guys. My name is Justin. I saw Theanvil's post on 2cool and decided to sign up. I have been wanting to get into drifting for a long time, but had no idea Houston had a drift club. I have a brand new NTC3 team car sitting here that I have been planning on converting to brushless for drifting. I am not completely new to drifting, I had an original RS4 and a micro RS4 that I used to drift with several years ago, but I have never had a dedicated drift car. I am going to try to make it down to Randy's on Sunday to run my NTC3, but I have a pretty full schedule already this weekend, so I am not sure if I will be able to make it.

Look forward to chatting with y'all, and I have lots of questions to ask. Very Happy

On the subject of converting you NTC3 I would't recommend it...lots of time and money that could be put towards something ready to go and slap a Tekin RSPro combo in it and start the Cheese Eating Sideways Monkey action.

The drift king on this site is Germanese and he can point you i the right direction for all your drifting questions.

Once again Welcome!!!

If I didn't already have the brand new car sitting here I would probably go a different route, but I already have pretty much everything I need to do it, and that way I wouldn't need to keep spares around for another car, since I have tons of NTC3 spares already. Plus I really like the TC3. Very Happy

The only thing I am lacking right now is a motor mount, any suggestions on that? I will be making a custom chassis, so it is pretty open as far as what mount I can use.

Thick Alum. angle that bolts to your chassis where your nitro motor went with the brushless motor mounted to that then you would be able to set your gear mesh the same way you did with your nitro motor.
Sounds like the easiest way to me.

Hehehe Welcome there !!!

Electric Based Drifitng maybe i know a bit, but it seems like you making a Electric/Nitro Based Drifter.

You in better hands with Mark or Romano. Getting Alot of Power to the ground with electric in Originaly Nitro cars, is their speciality.
If you planning to keep on going NTC3 conversion for drifting, getting it up and running ask them for motor and ESC choices is more benificial.

PS: On a heavy over powered Brushless converted Nitro/E Drifter you might want to look into Type D = These were made for Nitro Drifters.
But with the power brushless put out especially you, you might be able to use them. On my car they act like Rubber tires hahaha.

I agree with Germanese the Type D tires are good for nitro, however they are for high speed drifting, at nearly race type speeds. But, if you can get your hands on the Type A's they work AWESOME on nitro!!!! We ran a nitro drifter with Type A's and they worked great. The speed was slower and the drift was real smooth and all you had to do was modulate the throttle to keep the RPM's in a good range.
